04/26/19 – BASS CAT BOATS PARTNERS WITH SDG MARINE

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – Bass Cat Boats has partnered with Showa Denki Group Marine (SDG), a subsidiary of Showa Denki Co., LTD, to create an agreement for SDG to be the exclusive distributor of Bass Cat’s products throughout Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, and South Korea. This move was driven by the companies’ common values and the shared perception that the Asian market for premium boats is primed to expand as bass fishing opportunities there grow.

Bass Cat President Rick Pierce and SDG Marine CEO Kensaku Kashiwagi met at BCB world headquarters in Mountain Home, Arkansas, on Monday, April 24th to formalize the agreement.

“It’s a joy to see the stability and enthusiasm for bass fishing that Kensaku-san and the Showa Denki company bring to the Japanese market,” Pierce said. “We at Bass Cat Boats are proud to be partners with SDG because they have the vision and the ability to maximize our market presence abroad. We have many friends and customers in Japan already, and that number is only going to grow under their steady hand.”

Kashiwagi likewise saw the partnership as an obvious fit, noting that Bass Cat’s distinguished history is consistent with his culture’s reverence for authenticity and quality.

“In Japan, there are many Bass Cat owners, and they love Bass Cat Boats,” Kashiwagi shares. “The Bass Cat Japanese agent BeFreek was acquired by and merged with Showa Denki Group, the reason being that Showa Denki has been in the bass boat business for three years and strongly supports customers. Although BeFreek has asked this of us, it is for Japanese and future Bass Cat owners that Showa Denki promises to carry forward and provide better service and support. Starting with Japan, sports fishing will continue to grow in Asia. We at Showa Denki look forward to growing alongside Bass Cat Boats.”

“From my days of competing against the Japanese national anglers on the Elite Series to my travels in Japan, I have always admired the passion, dedication, and commitment of the Japan anglers to the sport of bass fishing,” stated Bass Cat International Sales Director, Kevin Short. “The Bass Cat brand has gained a likewise extremely loyal and committed following in Japan and we look forward, with the tremendous support of Kensaku-san and Showa Denki, to seeing that following spread throughout more of East Asia.”
