We prefer a high quality passenger tire from experience. The trailer tires are significantly less expensive for us to purchase and if they are less money, there is a reason. All of the tire manufacturers we use, and have used, are very aware of the use we have planned for them. Goodyear Marathon as the standard tire. Cooper Cobras as the upgrade. BCB

Are you all shying away from the Firestones? I am going to talk to a Goodyear rep on monday at AAFES, on-base store. He sells the marathons. Thanks for the help

We actually only offer Goodyear Marathons from a Price Point. They are a listed trailer tire, though are much less than the standard radials we purchase. The upgrade was Firestone Tires back then. It was Goodyear Eagles prior to that, and later Indy 500 Firestones, before the present Coopers. We are not shying away from Firestone, there was an inventory issue. BCB

i could not find a passenger tire goodyear marathons in 215/70/15 or trailer tire but found a trailer tire ST205/75r15 and st225/75r15. Do you recommend one of these? The space between my tire 215s and fender is pretty tight. I guess i will have to place them next to the trailer and see if they will fit. I found the COBRA RADIAL GT in p215/70r15 are these the ones you mentioned? Their max load in 1620. I have a 2001 Pantera Classic. How much does this weigh with trailer? Again thanks for all your help–I dont need another blow out. I had to throw away 2 pairs of underwear–scared the #2 out of me.

I ordered 4 Cooper Cobras online from Unser tire for $86.00 each w/ no shipping and had a local station install them for $10.00 each. Weight wise they should be fine.

Ive run several trailers with goodyear marathon st tires. I have had good luck and feel they are worth the money to buy.

Any quality automotive tire of the correct size will do you good. We all have our opinions and preferences.

Hooter said it well, just get one that has the right requirements met, and you have confidence in. Let your local tire dealership be your guide, and dont try to get a trailer tire. BCB

I have a 98 PII running a single axle and with the Firestones Firehawk (2 ply Sidewall) I experenced some trailer sway at speed over 63 When I went to a radial ply trailer tire with 4ply sidewalls and higher max air pressure all the went away she stays firm and straight at any speed.

I have a 2002 classic with dual axle trailer. I replace the Firestone Firehawks with Cooper Cobras last year, and I have been pleased with the looks and handling with these tires. I used the same size as the Firestones. Good luck. KentKent Charles 2002 Pantera Classic & 200 Yamaha VMax

topwater, Tire dealers usually hammer you at a bonus on trailer tire pricing. For us there is a significant price difference the opposing direction. Trailer tires are by far the least expensive tire we can buy. WE also have more troubles out of failures on trailer tires than we do passenger car radials. Though we also suggest you run them at maximum pressures. For models like the Phelix, Skiff Cats, and the new Bobcat they work fine, and are price efficient. Though on bass rigs and the Bay Cat we like the vehicle tires. BCB

I know someone will be along with other advise but I have a 92 Sabre and it had Goodyear trailer tires on it. When I had to replace them a couple of years ago I could not find my sized tire in a trailer tire either. They had others that would be taller but I dont have a lot of clearance so I did not want to try them. I went with the Cooper Cobra Radial GT auto tires. I believe they are the same ones that BCB now uses. My local tire store said that they were actually better than trailer tires. Yours are the exact size that I have on mine. Ive had Cooper Cobras on 2 trucks and had good service out of them so I trust them, and if they are good enough for BCB then that says a lot. Bass Cat probably used auto tires back then as well. The upgraded tires today are auto tires and are supposedly better than trailer tires.

My 92 pII has goodyear marathon st p215 70 r14 on it. I run these same tires on a 14,000lb 32ft fifth wheel camper with no problems for three years.Hope this helps
