Mercury Question

I have an 05 Optimax and the warning signal beeped four times which is either the oil or water in the fuel, so I changed the Fuel Filter and filled it to the rim with oil and the alarm still went off. Anyone have any suggestions to what else I could do myself to fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

the mode button. when i reset my fuel usage and such i press mode to reset…….. the mode button is the one i pushed and the alarm shut off

Earle- If I had to guess you overheated some. I know if I run my eng and then shut it off, and then re-start it within a min or so, it will sound the alarm. My guess in the time you reset the gauge it cooled off enough that it was no longer in overheat mode.

Dealer or check the upper reservoir. On a 2005 we would want to be sure… BCB

upper oil reservoir is 3/4 full didnt know if it needed to be completely full

Yes it should be full. Also if its Smart Craft your lower oil reservoir in the boat will beep when below 1/4 sometimes.

Hook up some water and start the motor, crack the engine oil resevoir on the side of the engine till oil start to come out of the top, close the cap. This ensures all the air is out of the system. It should remain full. Turn motor off, and then restart, oil level should remain full.
