Which fishing rod??

Has anyone tried either of these? If so what do you think?
Bass Pro Shops® CarbonLite™ Trigger Rods
or

Abu Garcia® Veritas™ Casting Rods looking at 7’6″ MH for deep cranking and possibly A-rig.

Going to put a BPS Pro Qualifier 5:2.1 on them

BPS has Carbonlite and Pro Qualifier for $179+6 shipping =$185

or I can get Abu Veritas $99 from Walmart and Pro Qualifier $99 and no shipping =$198

I could get the Abu in 7’11” Heavy with a Mod/fast tip for same price.

I’m kind or worried about durability since both are super light compared to my current -$50 rods.

I’ve asked in other forums, but sometimes you get people that answer with no clue. I figured the people here are a little more reliable and fish a little more.

This is my first $100 rod and I have several deep (18+ft) cranks and 2 A-rigs that I have yet to use.

Ive got both. I have several of the carbonlites and 1 of the veritas. The veritas is a mh and the carbonlites I have med med/heavy and heavy. The carbonlites seem a to have a little more backbone than the veritas although I like both of them. The carbonlite Ive had one of them since they first came out and havent had any issues with it or any of the others. I did try one of the microguide carbonlites and had issue with the guides abrading the line. The veritas I have had about 6 months and its the mocroguide version and has held up well so far. All the ones I have are 7 fters. If you have any specific questions id b glad to answer them.

Bought a 7-6 Veritas this spring specifically for the A-Rig. Paired is with a new Lews Tourney Pro, love it. Smacked em good for two weeks at LOZ this spring.

Thanks guys! Those are the answers I was looking for! Other forums I got some “should work” “might not be a good choice” sort of answers. Even got several “A-rigs are fades, do not waste your time.” Do you guys think a 711″ heavy with a mod/fast tip would work for deep cranks or would it be to stiff?

not sure on the 711″, all the carbonlites i have are 7 ive got two med action that seem to work well with cranks. Im not much of a crankbaiter so definately lacking on exptertise in that area. I have two bps cranking rods that are 76″ med action and they seem very soft in the top 8-12″ of the rod. Ive got a bit of carpal tunnel in my left hand which i hold the rod while reeling. With a stiff sensitive rod while cranking the vibration tends to wear on my hand. I have used the 7 heavy carbonlite for the a-rig when I throw it and it does a good job for that although im not a big a-rig user. also will mention that ive got a pro qualifier reel that is 3+ years old with alot of use on it that is still very smooth. I bought a super clean used revo premier about a year ago and would say the pro qualifier is every bit as smooth as the revo but i do like the revo better because of the couple ounces difference in the weight. I dont have either but i can tell you this much my parter has busted two carbon lites in a week and my Dad has a carbon lite that is falling apart not to mention a BPS crankin stick that broke 3 eyes down for no reason. I throw the Bama rig quite often and this Spring I threw it 75% of the time so I know what kind of strain it will put on a rod and I do not believe for a minute the Carbon Lite will make it one day chunking that behemoth of a rig. Im using a 76″ Heavy action Grim Reaper with a Curado and I have not had the first issue with this set up. But thats just my 2 cents worth.Good Luck and happy CHUNKING!!

Kistler Rods are currently running a two for one special through Wednesday. Their Mag Rods are normally 199.00 but with special you could have 2 for 100.00 each. Good enough for Alton Jones so worth looking at. Im a big fan!
