I have a 2004 Pantera III with a 3.0L200 hp merc hanging on the back. Is this motor Smartcraft compatible? It has a emblem on the back of the cowling that has Smartcraft on it, but every place I read my motor is not listed as a compatible motor. If it is compatible, is this a project that can be done at home? I really would like to have an engine temp reading. I suppose if there is a temp sending unit or a place to install one I could have engine temp without a Smartcraft system. I have been wondering about this so I thought I would ask the people that would know. Thanks, weeman
We dont think a 2001 model carb engine has the computer that drives the gauges.
Thanks BCB!Jmtfrisco, Texas
I was told to get a small drill bit, and use your hand and just twist the drill bit in the intake hole to clean out the garbage. Steve
If you use your gps then why dont you just hook it up to the smartcraft gauges, then it will always be right and not have worry about a clog.
I think I need to clarify, I was meaning did the hole being clogged affect what smartcraft would say my average MPG in fuel consumption was. Such as at 50 mph 4500 rpms 3.6mpg etc.
I would be willing to say yes it will effect you miles per gal. Im not 100% sure. When I sat down and thought about it, I would say yes it will effect it. If your only going 2mph (and really going 70mph) I would say it is taking the reading from 2mph and how much fuel you are using to get there. Im dont know much about the smartcraft gauges. Hang in there Im sure someone will come along with an answer… Steve
Just wire it to your GPS antenna if you have a receiver. BCB
You can do it either way. You can run the SC1000 Mini Gauge and have the digital readings, or you can tap the Brown and Blue wire in the Mercury harness for an analog temp gauge. The wire is already at the dashboard. The SC 1000 Mini Gauge will require a harness from the engine. BCBLast edited by Bass Cat Boats on June 11th, 2009, 4:01 am, edited 1 time in total.

I have done it a couple of times. Buy everything from European on BBC–They will walk you through it.
I did not have Beede gauges but completely switched over to Smartcraft gauges. It was not hard but took a little time… Here is my thread in Bassboat Central:http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php … highlight=RH
