You would be able to launch just a mile or two south of the air station and fish the Lafitte areas like the Pen and the Texaco canals, also running up the Baritaria waterway into Lake Salvador, Lake Cataouatchie, Davis pond diversion areas that have been giving up some really nice bass lately, also across the river around the Caernarven freshwater diversion. Along with the Venice area, Bayou Black, Ruddock, Des Allemends, and the Basin all within 1-2 hours of the Air Station.

Dont worry rich, either way it will probably have better bass fishing then anywhere i am probably headed. And from what i have read and heard most folks without 20lbs down there just put it on the trailer and take it to the house. And they grow them redfish very big over there as well!

I drive 2.5 hrs (one way) to fish Venice all the time. The Classic will probably be won there in February. I have several friends that scouted the area for the Classic, and they are ADDICTED to Venice. It has everything bass red fish,trout,marlin,tuna and is tops in the world in all categories. What ever you want,the total fishery is insane.I am actually going Friday to whack um up.

Hey, you Venice rats,You probably know that I have a bayboat in Venice, Question- even though we dont really fish for them, weve probably only caught 3 bass in 3-4 yrs. If you dont mind give me an idea on what areas you concentrate on for largemaouth, you can be specific as I will not be stealing any of your fishing area, just would like to try every once in a while. Thanks for the replies. Here is a strange question, but how is the cell phone coverage while fishing Venice or some of the other bass areas? Ill be slaved to the proverbial electronic leash and being in cell coverage while fishing will greatly enhance my opportunities to go.

cell phone coverage is good unless you are below Dennis Pass. Since the oil spill coverage area has expanded greatly.Sam we fish canals and passes headed to Delta Duck NWR,south of Pass a Loutre,and the area around the Camp canal. We fish several other areas that we will not mention on this site but the entire area from Fort Jackson all the way to Burrwood is awesome especially when the water is below 7 ft at New Orleans. You only need three baits1-Beaver (any color you like)2-Speed Craw (sapphire blue)3-humdinger spinnerbait
