There should be free wires under the side courtesy light on the side of the console, unless someone already used those tag leads.

would those 3 wires by the courtesy side light be pinkish, lavender and black with a crimp connector on and ready to go? and if so which wires would I use for the locator and do I need an inline fuse ? thnx mark

Always use an inline fuse on accessory items, and i would rather run a couple wires to my starting battery and fuse the positive there next to the battery. My .02 ! D.

That would be the Pink one, the purple is for an ignition feed from the key.

Mark, if you did not have the air intake scoop off, that is the easiest way to try and run anything from the rear to the console. It gives you a little more room and is a little straight shot from there. Hope this helps, but someone will be along soon and may have other idea. pant 2 Bob

On a 1991 it should go fairly easy with a hard fish tape or something solid to work it through there. Removing that rear cowl vent is the ticket.

well I can get the tape fished back to the bilge but as hard as I try when I have the ducer wire hooked up to the tape and pulling it back towards the console, the end of the plug hits something that blocks it! It hits right about where the gunnel steps down I think , this is fishing it in the upper part of the gunnel above the wire loom. I have tried at least 3 times with the same results, taking off the exhaust wouldnt help with this problem, because getting it back there isnt the issue at least not on the uppermost part of the gunnel. I have tried the bottom but I just cant get that tape thru down there. Any suggestions cuz I am stumped! thnx mark

Try letting the wire hold hte tape and letting the receptacle flop towards the rear. The tape and wire will pull it, and the plug will not be so bulky.

huh, could you explain that one a little more ya lost me lol receptacle? I am pushing the wire fish from the console backwards with little prob but the ducer plug on the locator is about 3/4 inch square and that is what is not making it back without getting blocked solid. mark

The plug may be unable to get by the steering cables (or hoses) – try reaching into the side and follow your tape with your fingers. I have done this twice on a PIII and both times I was able to work it through. Also, I pull a string with the tape and use the string to pull the cable through, tying and taping the plug to streamline it. Steve

Are you trying to run it through the tube that the other wires are in?
