Livewell overflow

So it does not let water out when on plane. When fishing deep in summer you need to keep the livewell temp down with ice. You cant do that if you have to refill water all the time. I know my classic will let quite a bit out the overflow.

i just flip my switch from auto to recirculate, and it keeps the water i have in the well while running

There is a threaded pvc piece in the top portion of the livewell. Thats what I am trying to plug off.

I have used a spare drain plug, the same size that comes on a 08 boat.

Home Depot or Lowes will have a cap for that overflow in the hardware section. The reason is not the overflow loosing water, though a hydraulicing of the livewell valve and the rubber flapper slowly pumping water out the housing. Those caps are a fit, though we cant tell you what size. You should only need them on Sam Rayburn and the Great Lakes. BCB

This topic brings up a question from me too. 04 Cougar FTD – When I fill my livewell, most of the time it will fill, and I assume automatically shut off. However, sometimes I only know that it did not shut off because the water over flows and goes into the bilge and the pump comes on. I never knew my boat had a over flow. Thanks, Eric

No the overflow is not dumping in your bilge, unless the hose is removed. It dumps to the lake and is a static overflow drain. BCB
