rubrail silicone

Gentlemen: I have noticed that there is some silicone hanging down on the underside of the rubrail (mainly on the starboard side. I have seen it and pulled it away (hanging down and looked kind of ugly). My question is not only for this but other issues like this. How long is something like this (if it is an issue) and other things like lid latches or other things covered in the warranty system. Usually soon after you purchase something the dealer will cover it. I will have my Cougar a year in the middle of August. If I have some minor things do I need to get them addressed right now. Back to the silicone deal. I assume that this is from compression and maybe time and temp changes. I detailed the boat and noticed more than I have ever seen before hanging down. Any need for concern? Thanks Moose

The Silicone is not loose on the boat usually. There may be a very thin line that does not adhere to the rub rail, and it can peel off. You can rub it off also and trim it with a razor blade. It usually last a while before it starts to peel, and it should only be about an 1/8″ width, and a film thickness, or less line of silicone where they taped the rub rail, then caulked the joint.
