P2 versus P4?

Larry The P2 deck will be very similar to that of a Classic, but will appear to be a little wider since the deck is raised. You will also give up ride to speed in case your wondering.

the P2 is a couple of inches wider than a Pantera Classic, though it is quite a bit narrower than a P4. The P4 was the widest of the line from memory. The Cougar FTD or Puma may have changed the deck width max, though we are not sure. Someone inside would have to verify that. BCB

If you dont mind me asking, but why would you go from the P4 to the P2?? The only advantage I can see would be a a few MPH on the top end, everything else I would have to stick with the P4. Just wondering what your thoughts were on this?

Jslaw, I had a P classic and the only thing i didnt like was it was a bit narrow at the front. Moved to a P4 and have no complaints…its the perfect boat for me really. I have not been able to look at a P2 although i had heard it was wider than the classic. I really enjoy my P4 and the only problem i have is fitting it in the garage without a swing tongue. My old house it wasnt a problem because i had a metal carport/garage it was always covered. We moved and now it needs to fit in garage. I know BCB can do the conversion to the tongue but with fuel costs from tx to ark its about a $1500 option for me now. I can fit a P2/P4 in the garage with swing tongue, a new trailer is too costly a option, so i guess i either need to buy new or make the drive. But your right, i really think with my style of fishing i would not be happy at all giving up the width of the P4 and i could care less about the speed. LB

Oh Ok I was just wondering, I have seen both boats, and the with width, stability and storage on the P4 there is no way i could/would go to the P2s layout, do not get me worog the P2 is one sweet boat, it is just not set up like the P4 is (plus it does not have hand rails,looks like a toon.. IMO), so as long as 75mph is not a big concern, i would either look around gfor a good used P4, buy new one or have a local fab shop modify your trailer, there is no need to have BCB do this, any reputable shop can handle the job. Larry, I fished out of my partners P4 for two years and I now own a P2. Both are great boats. The P4 deck is huge. The P4 rides better than the P2 and the P4 has more storage. The step up cooler is bigger on the P2. The P4 is a solid 70 mph boat as you know and the P2 is a solid 73 mph boat. I dont think you would be disappointed with the P2 but the P4 is the Cadillac of the BCB 19 line. I would have bought one but the price is much more than the deal I got on the P2. If it were me I would get the trailer modified on the P4 or build an extension to the back of the garage.

The P4 and P2 are both great boats, and i wouldnt hesitate to own either. But, there is no way i could get around in the P2 like i can in my P4. the stability is incredible, and the deck is huge, so the P4 wins in all categories in my book. Saw the basketmans boat yesterday and it looks even better in person and the basketman was rubbin it down and keepin her clean. The boat looked brand new. -Lee
