Prop for my Puma HELP!!!

I recently purchased a 07 Puma w/ 07 Merc 250 proxs. I am looking for the "best prop" for top-end speed....I am willing to sacrifice my hole-shot. I am currently running a Tempest 27, but am curious about the difference I might achieve with a 27 trophy or even a 26 Tempest. My best top speed(GPS) is 74.5. I am scratching my head about how these guys are achieving speeds in the 80mph range!!! Any suggestions?Thanks,mark

I would definitely recommend a 27″ Trophy. Thats what I am currently running on my FTD with 250 Pro XS, and I ran the same prop on a Puma with 225 Pro XS (74.7 GPS was best).A 26″ Trophy will be a good alternate to the 27″ Trophy for some applications, but I run “heavy” and have had no issues with the 27″ Trophy as far as hole-shots all the way up to top end.You need to lift that hull, and the Trophy will help you there.Email me your phone number if you want to talk one-on-one…Gary Hollanderbasscat@lakemail.com

Mark, Gary and Phil are correct, most applications the 27 Trophy is your prop. Especially if you run a very heavy tournament type load most of the time. What you gain with the tempest versus what you will give up in handling usually isnt worth the trade off. The only thing I have found better than the 27 Trophy is a 26 Trophy I have which I had ” worked” and a little bit of pitch added and the prop balanced. That prop is between a 26 and actually closer to a 27 and it seems to be the perfect prop.
