I just bought this boat (my 3rd BassCat!) and dont feel that its performance is up to par!!! I put a 1998 200hp Mariner EFI on it. I took it to the lake yesterday and took a couple props with me. First I ran a 26p Laser II and when the boat started too get up on plane, its like the prop started (for lack of a better explaination) doing a burnout and I had to back out of it and easy back into it. That prop has 3 small (I guess they are vents) in it and it was jumping out on plane pretty good (till the burnout!), but I wasnt thrilled with the top end speed! Next, I changed to a 4 blade Ballistic prop with no vent holes. Im unsure of the pitch, I dont see it stamped anywhere but its either a 25p or 26p. Obviously I had a pretty crappy holeshot with that monster prop tied to the back of my boat, but it didnt burnout like the other one and seem a little low on RPMs at WOT. I seem to have convinced myself that my motor is way too low. If I lower the engine as far as I can with the boat on the trailer (which is pretty much all the way down), and hold a level from the bottom of the pad straight back, the very center of my prop is 8 1/4 to 8 1/2 inches below the pad. Also, when Im running WOT and trim it up all the way, its not throwin much of a roostertail (compared to when I had the engine on my 1998 Pantera Classic) no matter which prop I have on it! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
