you will find arguments for and against but the lock n stow has been working fine for me for years. I was told BCB does not recommend a hotfoot either but I would not have a boat without one. Love the company for sure but I never had much luck with the standard transom saver that BCB recommends

I noticed the other day how much the rear crossmember moves when I attach my motor totor to it. As I have had problems with “metal fatigue” on another crossmember I wonder if I should be concerned? How much flex or movement would be acceptable?

The cross member shouldnt flex. No need to apply that much pressure to the standard transom saver that BCB recommends.

I use the standard transom saver. I lower the motor until the bottom bracket just touches the roller and then give it one bump of the trim. Snug fit, but with minimal flex to the crossmember. Ive considered adding a shock or spring to the transom saver as a vibration dampener. Just remove the bolt between the two sections and add mounting brackets and shock absorber. It would still provide support for the motor and transom during transport, but could dampen road vibration and jolts which are the real concern here. Maybe a good post retirement project later this year. Stay tuned.

Will do. I have a crude drawing of what Id like to do, and I believe it will work without adding too much weight to a transom saver. Looking forward to working on the boat related ideas list along with the home projects.

In my opinion the transom saver is the best option . If you look at an engine that is trimmed up it has the characteristics of a lever. Weight and gravity alone is putting stresses on the contact points . This energy can be compounded while in transport whenever you hits bumps in the road, this is known as shock loading. A support system that goes from the lower unit to the trailer will transfer and absorb this energy to the trailer rather than the transom . The block systems do support motor weight and will protect trim units however they do little to protect transom flex and fatigue.
