Ive had both and I see less abrasion with the Deans because it is easier to get tied down correctly. Ive never used it for storage outdoors, so I cant comment on that part. I will tell you that I broke a strap on my Deans cover entirely thought my own stupidity and Deans fixed it without any questions and at no charge even though I told them that it was entirely my own fault and it was 14 months old. Great customer service and had it back in about 10 days.

I have a Deans and the separate motor cover will scratch the cowling if you trailer with that……threw that piece away. The cover itself though if used pretty tight and you dont have any flapping straps, youll never notice any rub marks. Cinch it up good in the back with the rope. I like it a lot. That said, a friend has the Aurora and trailers with that with good results as well.

If the Deans cowl cover is leaving abrassion marks, wouldnt they correct this by now and use an inner liner that is friendly. Is there another cowl cover that can be bought? Thanks for your comments, this is greatly appreciated

They both have their pros and cons. For trailering both will cause scuff marks, but the Deans is a little better. If the Aurora wasnt “tent” style, then it would probably be better. I understand the Aurora can be purchased just to cover the boat with a seperate engine cover, but have never seen one. Both have issues with the straps when it comes to tying them down around the fender area.

I used a Deans cover with the first cat I owned. I am now waiting on my second Deans which was ordered for my new cat. There were no issues at all when traveling. There were no signs of chaffing on the motor or the boat. This cover is light in weight and I can put it on by my self. No matter what cover you choose, always tighten the heck out of the draw rope on the back. Thats the one thing most folks get wrong. Tighten it and then tighten it again! Glynn

Is the Deans cover material soft on the back side or is it the same material as the top.

The underside is similar to felt.

You should be able to work the straps around the Tallons.

i have a 2011 PII with Talons, the Sunbrella Cover is possibly the greatest investment I have made besides buying my boat. I live in a very flat part of Ohio and the wind has blown upwards of 70 mph with a few storms the last few years. And the cover had never moved. I never get water inside it. And just fits like a glove. Super easy to take on and off. I can take it off by myself in under 60 seconds, and takes about 120 seconds to put on myself. I just cant say enough about this cover. If you are at all thinking about it, you should pull the trigger.

If you travel then be sure to get the Sunbrella Supreme fabric. It will not damage the gel coat, and is hands down, the best cover I have ever owned.

Get the Sunbrella, cost a little more but well worth it.

Sunbrella is very nice and easy to install. Well made and engineered with only a couple straps. Good reinforcements where needed.
