Sea star hydraulic steering leaking?

BCB and others: I noticed yesterday when I got back home from the river there was oil/gas in the water in the splash well. I first thought it was a fuel leak but then saw the oil on the black loom/steering cables. Its only leaking from the right cable. Its a red oil so I know its hydraulic steering fluid. Its not leaking bad but I know this should not be leaking at all. I guess it needs a new seal? I have the Sea Star pro tilt. My question is why would this be leaking when the boat is 9 months old and has about 40 hours on it?? Seems to new for this problem. Granted its the Sea Star product and not BCB just dont make since. I guess its another dang trip back to the dealer. A place this boat stays. 2012 Pantera 4

Sorry to hear you have a steering seal issue, please get this into Hide-A-Way and let them get you fixed up. Your right in that these parts are a universal item and the same on all brands of boats. BCB

I had the same issue on my P3 mind you mine is old but had the seals replaced, a year later started leaking again around the seal. i felt the cylndar had some small nicks so rather than buying parts plus seal kit i just bought a brand new Seastar HC5345 Hydraulic Outboard Cylinder from eBay for $300. check the cylinder shaft for nicks maybe it cut the seal?

Thanks yall! After looking closer its leaking around the right side hose and also the right side end cap. The left side is dry.It seems this can happen new or old. Maybe Sea Star needs to look into this. I will get it to Hide a way, only thing is their hours are my work hours and I need the boat by March 9th for a tournament. I know I got 2 weeks but I have no idea when I can get the boat to them. Maybe this Sat?Thanks again!

Yea I think its a 2 year from what the Sea Star website says. Its just a pain because its a nice little drive and gas is getting crazy again.
