On the Optimax 200 (2002) what is the oil typerecommended for use??????

You can definitely use the Opti DI oil in that 200, and you will need to burn the oil down low before you add the different oil. We would suggest the Opti oil in this engine with the detergent in it. BCB

Ive got the same 2002 200hp Opti motor, so would like to be sure I understand, but between this post and the one of a day or so ago, Im not sure I do. Sounds like you saying that the Optimax “DFI” (Mercury) oil, which Ive been told is the same oil as the QuickSilver “synthetic blend”, contains a detergent. Unfortunately, DFI oil has been hard to get around here, so Ive had to run the Premium Plus more often than not. So the Premium Plus has no (or much less) detergent???thanx

Either is approved, though the DFI oil does have more detergent to reduce coking and carbon build up. BCB

Either is approved, though the DFI oil does have more detergent to reduce coking and carbon build up. It is not approved for all engines, as some are more efficient and do not require the detergent type oil. BCB
