Problems with BP – 100 dash

I have a 1996 Pantera II with the Bp100 dash. 200 efi Mariner Sometimes while traveling down the lake the screen just goes blank. I have checked all the connections to make sure they are tight. I turned it on in the garage and it all came up pushed the horn button and screen went blank again. Sometimes it works, sometimes not , any ideas?

What about the connections in the back of the boat? Clean them also as water leads to corrosion, corrosion leads to higher resistance, higher resistance leads to lower current flow, lower current flow leads to the dash giving up as being “under voltage” perhaps…

Check on Google.com look up Omega II I believe the place that rebuild these dashs is Southwest Electronics.. I looked it up on google.com and it came up.. I want to say that they are out of Mossuri. I do know that for them to look and give an estimate is $100 and if u decide to fix it they take off $100 bucks.. I went a head and purchased a new A10 dash conversion.. Im happy with my new dash.. takes a while for them to build it but its worth the wait. Good luck

There are three main locations to look and find an issue on the connections. Those are the main harness, connection to the pigtails, and the terminal block.

1. Check the terminal block on the rear transom for loose screws and wiring ends on the conenctors. This is the first culprit.

2. Check the connection between the unit harness and the boat harness, which are brown Amp plugs, These should be tie strapped together to prevetn loose wiring.

3. Check the main harness connection at the unit itself, behind the fastening strap to the unit.

DO NOT place the plugs in the wrong location. BE ABSOLUTELY Sure that you have them on the proper pins locations.

Also check your compass, speedo, barometer and temp readings. If one of these in inaccurate, disconnect the sensor or recalibrate them.
