Ulterra is more for walleye and multi species anglers. It is a bit slow and tends to be hard to find center. Have you considered the new Ultrex which is a hybrid between Ulterra and Fortrex. This with the iPilot Link would be a very good compromise and they are not slow. Then you have the jog feature, hand fob and everything short of the auto deployment.

I love my Ulterra. It works very well for my style of bass fishing. It has a foot control, but Ive never used it. The foot control stays in the rod box for backup. Auto deploy and retract are very handy, but the auto up and down for shallow water is the best. Ive always had motor guides before this and thought I would miss the foot pedal, but that has not been the case.

.. What style bass fishing do you do mainly? I would consider the ultrex but it doesnt have the auto deploy feature. I mainly fish shallow personally

I primarily fish shallow also Chappster. 20 feet and less. The anchor mode on those is very handy, even in the wind. The newer ones are supposed to be even more accurate.

It’s interesting to see how the pricing has shifted over the past few years. I remember when the Minn Kota Ulterra was selling for a bit less, but it makes sense with all the new features and improvements. I’m currently checking out a similar model on FishingSun with a 60″ shaft, and it’s listed at $2,799.99.
