Topic: BCB I Need Your Help

I read a previous post where a new 06 Sabre owner was having to tow a great distance to pick his new boat up and wanted to be sure what prop to use. I am in the same situation. I have purchased a new 2007 Sabre with an EFI motor. In the previous post BCBs reply said, "if it were their boat they would opt for the trophy 4 blade". My dealer says he has spoke to the factory and they say stick to the 23" tempest. That is fine but I keep thinking of your previous post. I am a full days tow away and wont have the luxury of swapping props. My fishing partner and I weigh a good 500 lbs. and I want a prop for top speed, but also has average to good handling. If you guys tell me Tempest that is alright, but if you think the Trophy is best, let me know what pitch and I will make the upgrade. Thanks in AdvanceThis is my 2nd Cat!

You may not get the best top end speed with the trophy but you will get a little bit better handleing prop. A 4 bladed prop will tote a heavy load a little better, in most cases will lift a little better, will also get on plane a little faster and is also a little better prop in rough water. You may want to post this on this owners board. More people look at that board and sure somebody that has your rig and set up can give you more numbers than I can. Good Luck

I had an 03 Sabre w/ 150xr6 and I rand a 23 and 25 Tempest on it. It ran pretty good until you loaded the boat, then it killed its speed. I rand a 24,25, and 26 Trophy and the 24 and 25 Trophy ran great empty or loaded, easier to drive (less chime walking), had better holeshot and midrange, and it did not blow out when I went into a turn like the Tempest did. My new PII came w/ a 25 Tempest and I have already replaced it w/ a 26 Trophy….carries the boat much better. You may get a little better speed out of the Tempest as long as you are running w/ a light load, but when you load the boat down I would put money that the Trophy would end up running faster, especially in rough water.
