this question comes up often and BCB will give you the same answer everytime. They do not list the capacity as it would seem smaller than competitors. Competitors list the complete area including that above the overflow. In reality, BCB livewells are some of the largest on the market if not the largest. Your Puma FTD will hold plenty of water and youll see once you go to pump it out as it will take a while! Good luck with your Puma FTD!

im not looking to compare, i already bought the boat…i just need to know for chemical additives/ice without having to go out with a bucket. its 100+ here with surface temps last night at 94. i couldnt care less about whos is bigger, i bought the best and need to know how much water they hold…if its a trade secret let me know and ill just get busy with the bucket.

It seems trivial to you, though if we mention it in print the others could use that real data to claim theirs are larger when theirs are much less. For example a 520z Ranger only holds an actual 10.2 gallons per side, and other Z models are similar if not exactly that. Though they state that those wells are much more in volume. Thus others could try to use the data against us if we print the actual volume and we know no other manufacturer is honest in this. VanWho… BassCat installs Flow-Rite livewell systems. Keep fresh water on your fish and you may not need the chemicals. Flow Rite has great information on their website about each system. Below is a link to a page that describes each systems capabilities. Im just not sure which system BCB installs on the Puma. If you have System 1, and didnt have a recirculation pump added, then it may be to inconvenient to drain and refill the livewell but it can be done. Just move the control to the Open position while on plane and close it once you stopped and refill. If you have System 2, just turn the actuator to Auto and it will keep fresh water on the fish for you. The water gets pretty hot here and we often have to work hard to keep our fish alive during summer tournaments. Do the chemicals work pretty good? Flow-Rite Systems

thank you to the anonymous pro staffer who answered my question…apparently size is really a touchy subject around these parts. aeration is/was not the issue. the livewells are GREAT, plenty BIG, as is the boat. this time of year i add ice to cool off the water a bit as surface temps are almost 90 even in the morning. the water im fishing @ 15-30 feet is probably in the mid to upper 70s. store ice will almost always have chlorine, the chemicals are to neutralize that. no other reason. both the heat and the chlorine are toxic to mr LMB. to mix and maintain you need to know how many gallons will be treated. sorry to rile feathers so early. ill try to work on that…no more size questions! thank you to all who helped.

VanWho, I have been told that when chlorinated water is frozen, the chlorine evaporates and therefore is not a problem when it returns to a water state. I have looked to find if this is good info, but I have not been successful. Maybe somebody else will know if this is accurate and will chime in here. georgeGeorge

There could be some trapped chlorine, though it is a diminished amount. The water only needs to be cooled a few degrees or the fish could go into shock. The best solution is oxygen, and you can use hydrogen peroxide also in minimal quantities. BCB

You could use a 5 gallon bucket and fill it in the driveway. That way you would no exactly what your livewell holds. It would take just a few minutes.
