I love my 08 PII. I think it has plenty of room and with the trolling motor recess being so far forward it makes it fish like a bigger boat then it is. The carpet logo is now an iron on type instead of the felt insert like in years past and it is supposed to hold up a lot better. Not sure about the radio mounts. One thing I wish I would have changed is my white top cap. Yes it is a lot cooler in the summer, but its extremely hard to keep clean and really doesnt hide the scratches all that well. I personally like a colored top cap and would change that on my PII if I could. But its just a personal choice really. Some will say they like the white a lot better then the colored cap.
The front deck is plenty big though I wish it was wider at the tip. I have almost fallen in the drinks a couple times going around the seat. The pedal being so far forward is awesome, I guess that is a trade-off and to be honest I would not move it back if I could. I have a teal top cap and silver sides. It does not show dirt at all…nothing…I love it. My old boat had darker colors and it showed all the time plus was hot in summer. The teal on the simulator is pplain ugly but on a boat it is really nice. I do not like white anywhere on a boat so I would vote against it.I just got my PII a month ago and absolutely love it. I would buy another in a heart beat. I live on one of the biggest inland bodies of water in the country and have had no problems at all. It handles rough water WAY better then I expected.
I have a2011PII comin out of a 186″ T boat. This boat fishes like a 20fter! The Tm control well is forward and lends to the feel of extra length. Have fished couple tourney with partners and no problems with them in back or up front. Crossing over to another line of boats can be nerveracking but I am crazy-pleased I did. Will be here until I cant do it anymore!! More pics on my frofile if u need. Good luck and God bless!
White boats are classic. Colors are personal and what you like is what you should buy. My previous Puma was raspberry and silver and that also was a great looking boat. Heres a white and black 2011 PII that I ordered. I really like Bama96s PII, you can see it and the colors on the for sale board. You can spend hours looking at color combinations on the Bass Cat by serial number albums on face book (http://www.facebook.com/media/albums/?i … 3106080215). Most photos include a photo of the build sheet that lists the colors. The PII deck is narrower than a nitro but the BCB is such a better boat in so may ways……thats a whole other topic….. P.S. Narrower deck is a better to get behind the docks on lakes like Grand.Best of luckLast edited by Harley88 on August 7th, 2011, 12:13 am, edited 4 times in total.
Another question…I see that with the gauges on numerous photos Ive seen there is a colored bezel around each gauge. The seem to come in selection of colors. Is this an option or something determined by the factory. I would be getting the Nexsyslink Gauges.
It is a factory color pick and it has to do with the trim colors on your boat.
I have a new 2011 PII. My last 3 boats were a ranger 520, a ranger 521 and a phoenix bee line 2100. The PII fishes more like a 20 than a 19 boat. The front deck is plenty wide and stable for two guys to fish on. This boat will fish shallow and handle big water. The PII will run 70 mph gps or maybe a hair more with a 200 HP. Hopefully you can tell I love this boat. I would get most of the options available such as hydraulic jack plate, dual axle trailer, grab pole and steps on trailer, good electronics, etc, etc, etc. My opinion on white hulls etc, are they are beautiful when they are clean. You have to wipe them down ever time you take them out of the water, they do show scratches etc. My new PII does NOT have any white on it. It is a beautiful boat and alot easier to keep clean than white.
Thanks for answering all my questions. Great responses.I was told lighted compartments is part of the Adv Elite package but when I look it at on the options page it isnt listed?
Lighted compartment and the alarm are part of the package I do believe. Also like fishone said make sure you get the dual axle trailer, grab pole, and big electronics now or you will be hating yourself down the road. I didnt think I would want the grab pole or the bigger electronics when I bought the boat but I do now. lol Trust me its a lot harder getting the bigger depthfinder or grab pole installed after you get the boat then at the factory.
I dont have a PII but got the Puma. My old boat was a Nitro 591 which I believe is the same boat as your Z7 so I understand your thoughts on the width up front. Nitros have some of the widest front decks of all and all Cats are more narrow up front. My 591 was very wide and I did miss that extra space up front at first but it wasnt long before I wasnt thinking about it anymore. The difference in ride and handling was like going to a porche from a flat bed truck. With the more narrow front, forward pedal and the way cats sit in the water I found it much more nimble around docks and shorelines. I can turn it on a dime and back up easier plus get in and unhook my lure off the dock cable, ha!. If you pitch or flip, the narrow front makes it a lot better too. Also with the forward trolling pedal you can cast underhand toward the shore, which for me is more accurate casting and I never get tired. You can work a top water or jerk bait in front of the boat without hiting the trolling motor. It is plain awesome and something to experience. Ive said before its the closest feeling to walking on water . The trade off for it being nimble is in open rough water. It will move around more but I have yet to have water splash over the gunnel which was common with the 591 or any wide low sitting boat out on Lanier with the confused seas from pleasure boaters. So when Im fishing open waters and I know its going to get rough I have found if I add some weight up front it flattens how the boat sits and doesnt move around nearly as much. I found 70 lbs (dumbell weights) makes it work perfectly for me in my boat. The great thing about that is when Im fishing smaller lakes, docks or shoreline type stuff I take the weights out. For colors – if you get the ones with glitter just make sure the top and hull contrast. I got two colors I like but side by side they kind of run together. And – Bass Cat makes the best trailers without a doubt!
Lots of good replys here make the understanding much easier. Thanks for all the feed back. I agree with what everyone says. Get what you want for options now or youll regret it later. Ive been there and done that What I have listed below should make for an awesome rig! I hope this rig lasts me a loooong time. I only average about 25 hours a season so it should be looking good for many years to come.I am upgrading electronics at the console and bow. Seems like most Cats have Birds but Im going to HDS Lowrances since I already know them and dont want to learn something else. Plus “Birds dont last long with Cats around”As far as the options this is what Ive picked. The only concern I have with the tandem axle is how well I can back it in to my pole barn. Im told tandems dont turn well at 90 degrees. The entire two car side I use for the boat so I have plenty of room there. Also with the barn being 30 deep and having the pivot tongue I have lots of room to walk around the boat.
You do have a nice list of goodies and it is very similar to my boat and you picked one of the best dealers out there. Here are the only things I would change about your list. I know you said your cookie jar was empty but find a way to get the HDS 8 at the console. The quick keys on the bottom will make life much easier and you will appreciate the additional screen space. Also since you are using HDS units why are you buying the stock am/fm radio when you can buy the Lowrance Sonic Hub and get AM/FM radio along with a direct hookup for an iPod and also the option of satellite radio if you pay for it? I have the Sonic Hub in my boat and it is the best thing I have ever bought for it. You can control the music right from your units so it doesnt matter if you are at the bow or at the console you can change the tunes or cut them off. Also I know you listed that you want a Croxton prop but for your stock prop I would pick a 25 Fury but Sherm will have you covered on that part I know. What kind of rod holder straps are you getting? I had the rubber bungee type before and then I had the factory install the retractable straps on the front deck and it is much nicer and looks a lot better as well.
Im OK with the HDS-7. Had them for a year already. Just dont have another 1K.With the 2 HDSs and the LWX-1 my LSS-1 will be full for networking capabilities. I dont have another spot to plug in the sonic hub. To do that I had have to get another LSS-1. Now the cost of a radio is really going up. Guess I could NMEA the sharing on the HDSs and that would open up a ethernet connection.I hadnt thought about the rod holer straps…Guess I need to do that too. I thought BCB was going to retractables?Last edited by GRR884 on August 7th, 2011, 6:01 pm, edited 1 time in total.
