I mentioned in a previous post about damage to my transom bracket supposedly stemming from use of the Swivl-Eze Lock N Stow. According my local Mercury Mechanic, the Lock N Stow weakened my transom bracket leading to its failure. Hopefully the pictures came through and you can see the right side of my transom bracket sheered off while running. It sheered at the last hole. At a tune of $620 for parts and labor, I will go back to the tried and true method of the transom saver. Actually, I should have listened to BCB and never switched to begin with. An expensive lesson for sure. My mechanic says I can use my boat for an upcoming T as long as I take it easy and dont run WOT and crash through waves. I dont think I agree w/ him. The kicker is the part isnt due to ship from Mercury until 19 Oct and my T is the 20th. Anyone ever experience this failure and what are your thoughts on a one time use of the boat prior to it being fixed? Thanks.
