Access to fuel tank under seat

Something inside the tank may be sealing the pickup tube off. Otherwise it could be the anti siphon valve in the pickup.

How do you get to the pickup?

On mine, you can remove the sending unit and have a pretty good hole to see through. Id look for kinked/pinched hoses first. Done anything new in the bilge area such as replacing a battery, or moving something around. Easy enough to pinch the fuel line. If that is not it, you can probably remove the pickup line at the top of the tank. If the bulb now acts normally, the problem is inside the tank, if the bulb wont spring back to its full shape with the pickup line removed, you have to look north of that point to find the restriction.It is obviously restricted somewhere. Really should not be that hard to find…

Its a new mercury bulb and fuel line from bulb to motor and the fuel line from tank to bulb looks to be in good shape

On a Puma — if you cant get to the tube thru the hole hes talking about — you are going to have to pull the seats then pull the seat pan– that way you can get to the whole tankSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That was my thought to start with. Remove seats and pan, otherwise on my classic you cant see the sending unit at all.

Thanks for the info ..I removed seat pan and pulled pick up tube and I didnt see anything obviously wrong but the elbow where the gas line goes into the tank which I thought was the anti siphon valve has nothing in it . Its just a elbow .the fuel line from tank to bulb is a black line with red lettering. I can blow through it with no restrictions. Vents are all clear. Im still stumped

An 05 Puma won’t have the new FLVV and EPA systems. It will have an anti siphon valve in the elbow on the pick up. Try draining it into the truck or car with siphon on the fuel line, and it won’t work. You mentioned you replaced the fuel primer bulb and we assume it’s Mercury or Quicksilver brand(s), not Attwood. The pick up must have something lodging against it and we assume you checked the pick up itself on the tip end.
