for no paint, buy a roll of masking tape. Tear off about 1″, fold it over the hook eye and stick it to itself. Now you have the eye completely covered, and you have a place to hold the hook while painting and something to hang it up by as well. Alright guys, it is a pretty good tip really there Mr. Beckler! The modeling clay ball suffices to hold the hook as well. Not sure how much heat effects it when the torch flows the powder coat. BCB

I put a paper clip thru the line tie and hang the jig by that when I bake em I dont torch to cook the paint – Ive got a wire rack I hang em by and cook em in the oven. Gotten them too hot with the torch or lighter approach and toasted the lead…. Any powder paint drips are easier to twist off the hook shank with a pair of pliers.

I poweder coat the whole head hook eye and all, I bought a jig eye buster, same concept as fanger nail clippers but with a point that breaks the paint out. I use this prior to baking them and the eyes stay clear of paint. The unbaked powder paint breaks out real easy before cooking at 350 degrees. I got a cheap toaster oven for baking, just hang the jig heads from the rack and start cooking. I never thought about trying clay or a paper clip. Both ar good ideas. The paper clip idea would work well for hanging tungsten worm weights for cooking powder coat on. My wife would shoot me if she found baked powder coated jigs in the oven. She almost went nuts 20 years ago when she came in, and found the upper half of a 2.5 v6 in the oven where I was expanding the block to remove/replace sleeves. 2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
