Try putting some sandpaper on a wooded dowel and sand the inside of the base alittle. Might be some burrs in there. Also check the pedestal for burrs.

They usually have to break in on the fit some. We dont like them too tight and the pins have a locking groove on them that often holds the pedestal in while underway and prevents bouncing out. That groove is what is usually hard to remove and you must come straight up at just the right 90 degree vertical. You can sand it lighty as suggested thugh dont overdo it as play in the pin is also irritating.

No, though your gonna do it and the groove is also on the short pin seat spider.

I spray Reel Oil on my pins before inserting them to make it easier to pull out. Works well.

I keep a small pry bar on board. Just pop it up a little from the bottom crease between the pole and the base. You can just lift it out. No problem.

I have used lithium grease before. But DONT USE MUCH.. VERY VERY LITTLE!
