Replace bench seats with buckets.

Has anyone on here replaced there bench seats with the new buckets? I have a 2001 Pantera Classic (with under seat storage and cooler) and would like to do this but would like to see some pictures of the finished product if anyone can post them. I have heard that some things will not be covered with the new seats and the BCB has some things that can be place on the boat to give it a finished look? I also like the new fiberglass cooler cover on the FTDs can this be ordered instead of the carpeted step box or would the center seat be better for my application. Any details anyone can give to help me get this ball rolling would be appreciated.God Bless, Stephen

The buckets look great, but you may lose the water tight integrity of the under seat storage you have w/ your bench seat. Others may be along soon to tell your there opinions, but I remember several previous posts addressing this issue. If I recall correctly, BCB indicated you may get water under the seats. Post pics if you do it.

I have a 2001 Classic that I replaced the bench seats with the Buckets on. I will try to figure out how to post pics on this site. I had the old site figured out but this one has me stumped a little. The job was not very hard and looks great. I have had no trouble with water getting into my under seat compartments. They remain the driest compartments in my boat by far. I figured out how to post the pics but I dont have any good pics of the seats so Im going to take some and get them up for you. O.K. I got them. Never mind the date on the pics. I took them today. Great looking seats! I am glad to hear they remained dry. I may have to consider upgrading my bench seats if others also have good experiences upgrading to the buckets. I just dont want to lose the dry storage.

Shap, Those seats look great. Did BCB send you what you needed to hide the old screw holes or things that the old seats left behind? Is this a job that you would think I could do myself? Man that makes a huge difference!!!! Great job.God Bless, Stephen

The more I look at those seats the more I like them. A few quick questions – 1. Does the center seat lift up in its entirety, or does the back/step need to be up and only the seat portion lifts up? 2. Is the stripping surrounding the seat boxes a new addition to the conversion keeping them water tights or was this on all seat conversion, even the early ones? 3. What if anything would be different for the bucket upgrade on an OO Jag over the above 01 Classic. 4. How are the seats secured? Screws through the vinyl like the bench seats or tabs? Thanks.

The actual seat portion of the center seat lifts forward and the seat back has to be up to do it. The seat back is attached to a 3 way hinge that you must screw into the fiberglass. I put my seats in in 2005 and the weather stripping was already in place from the bench seats. I believe the most important part in water tightness is taking your time to make sure your seats are in the right postion before screwing them down. A little to the left or right and youll have leaks Not sure about the differences in the Jag versus Classic. The seats are secured with stainless steel screws that you must drill out for and screw into the fiberglass. Not through the vinyl. There are designated spots for the screws to go. I also added a couple more for security. This was a very easy job. I am not a big do-it-yourselfer and found this pretty simple. Just a little elbow grease and its done. Hope this helps some and Its a job well worth the money. Makes a big difference in the ride and also the appearance of the boat.
