PII or sabre ftd

I feel most of the difference in the seating area. The front deck is a little longer and a tad wider as is the back deck, seems like 3″ on the decks and 6″ in the cockpit? I know when I spent time in a PII (I had a Sabre FTD at the time) the most noticing was behind the wheel. That hull is fantastic, it would have been my first choice if I could have got it in my garage. I now have a Cougar, bought it used. It is really nice on KY & Guntersville. Ive yet to “need it” , its just nice to have. Lots of choices. Get in all of them that fit in your storage area and see what fits you best.

When we bought a new PII in 2011, the front deck was 12-13 inches longer than the Sabre FTD. I liked the extra length, so my son could fish up front with me.While the pII is more money, the extra 8″ of length and the 200 HP have been worth it for us. There is not a right/wrong answer to your question, as you cant go wrong with either. I do like the extra length when fishing the lower end of Eufaula on rough days. Flyswatter has a like new 2013 Sabre FTD for sale.

The entire boat is only a foot longer. Its not all in the front deck. You are correct in there isnt a right or wrong answer on choice, win/win.

Unfortunately, we did not have a measuring tape, so this was my closest measurement going heel to toe followed by measuring each decks size 12 croc steps. When we got home, this was the calculation we came up with on deck length. It was also a selling point with my wife to let me get more boat.Pork Chop, I would be glad to measure the front deck of the PII for you. Flyswatter may come along and see this. He has a Sabre FTD that could be measured for a more exact measurement.

Yes, that Flyswatter Sabre is sweet. If the price is right that is a nice rig.A P-2 is a really nice rig, just about a perfect size. Small enough to be quick, nimble, and economical, but big enough to be comfortable. The extra foot on a P-2 makes a big difference if you compare them, one after the other. Having owned a P-2 I dont think Id be happy going down to a Sabre. But if youre not use to a larger boat the Sabre would be a lot of fun and work just fine for most applications.Sorry, not much help. You really have to try out a Sabre and see if its big enough for you.

the price difference wont only be in the boat but in the engine as well. if money or storage is not the issue I would get the P2 everyday of the week over the Sabre FTD. Faster, rides better, more storage!

Hi Pork Chop.Here are some photos to look at. The first is the measurement of the front deck. This is from the beginning of the front deck to the end of the 2nd front storage compartment. It is 60 1/2 inches.The next image reflects the distance the rod lockers on each side extend beyond the center storage compartment (about 19 1/4 inches).Hope this helps you. I absolutely love my Sabre FTD. Plenty of room, great layout, great fishing platform, fuel efficient, and fast. No better 18 footer on the market today. But, I will likely take a close look at a PII for my next boat. I would like just a little more front deck length to accommodate my rods. And I might consider a dual console. For now, Im more than happy with my Sabre.
