The cover plate is to gain access if you need it. Some go through the rod box and contortion themselves to where they can access the nuts from the back side.
Tie a lanyard to the wrench you use to prevent loosing it. It will fall into the hull and be gone!
The console is a two (2) person job to line up. Once you get it lined up, then you can place it. Align it to the top deck on the left side, and watch the console face.
For an amateur, you can premount the windscreen and align it to the other side when you mount the console.
The drilling can be replicated from the other side, and an extra bolt if you need to pull yours in some. The side panels travel (flex) a bit after production, thus the fit may not be perfect from the console jig.
The sealant we prefer is a urethane which is in a caulk tube. This is windshield urethane used for the windshield in your vehicle. Is take a while to set, and is messy, though is ___L for stout!
Use the fender (largest) washer for the nuts and bolts to disperse the pressure, then snug’er up!
Clean and wait! Leave it till it cures for 24 hours if you use urethane, 12 if you use silicone.
Then you can seal the crack if you want by taping off the crevice and a nice silicone bead if you prefer. This does hamper some drainage, though may protect things form getting wedged into the crack. We do not silicone them at BCB standard.
That oughta’ cover it!
