putting in new fishfinder at bow

hey guys, quick question. i want to put a fishfinder at the bow of my sabre beside the trolling motor. (u know where they go) in the foot padle area. what is the best way to run a power wire up there and do i have to drill holes to get the wire up or no. I know this sounds like a dumb question but I know you guys always help me out.

Pull that power from either the accessory switch, if you have one. Or you can pull from a courtesy light.

The Trim buttons will supply you with a hot wire all the time, and a ground can come from the Navigation light. Though the trim is not through the Master Power switch.

My son installs Avionics on helicptors and we are installing an X-51 at the trolling motor and an LMS 520c in the dash. We were both very surprised to find so many slices in the wiring at the front of the boat and under the dash. I am the second owner of my Sabre. I bought it from a Bass Cat Rep. 5 years ago. Is mine a fluke or does Bass cat typically use a lot of splices in their wiring? Not complaining at all, just very surprised due to the quality I have come to know from Bass Cat.

I have run wires to the front switches on my Classic and have yet to run across any wiring that has been spliced.

Most likely the first owner spliced in when installing aftermarket electronics. I’ve added electronics to my Jag and have contributed greatly to the number of splices one would find under the dash. I tied my GPS and LCR on my console to the courtesy light. I tied my bow unit to the accessory switch.

Does the accessory switch pop out? Do you have to pull the trolling motor access plate off and run the wires through there? I need to install a x-102C up front on my boat. Should I just leave the factory x-51 wires in place, so I don’t have a hole?

I removed the trolling motor access plate and the panel that houses my switch. I had the most working room by removing both. Use the same wiring if compatible; otherwise use your old wires to pull your new wires through existing wiring holes (usually located under your mount or under a decorative cap). Visible mount holes that didn’t match up to your new mount are easily filled w/ gel found in inexpensive patch kits.
