No Brake Lights

Discovered I have no brake lights or turn indicators working this morning. Running lights are fine. No evidence of crimping at the breakaway tounge. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Wiring is not my area.

Bad day all around. Managed to get to my favorite lake 1st time this year today and bingo no water. Looked like guys were fishing in a tea cup!

We assume you checked the fuses on the truck, and the emergency flashers also. If the emergency flashers work on the trailer, it is in the vehicle.

You can also cross plug the brown wire from the vehicle, to the green or yellow wire with the parking lights on. This will activate the brake lights in the parking mode. Just a simple check to check the wires.

Since you have no brake lights, we would think it is a grounded out parking light or light bar that may have blown a fuse.

Guess I wasn’t too clear yesterday. All lights work on the vehicle. Fuse is fine. Emergency flashers work fine as do turn signals on the vehicle but not the trailer, only lights I have on the trailer is when I have my running lights turned on in the vehicle.

Tried to cross plug as you suggested and got nothing.

I assume this means it’s in the trailer wiring or lights?

It would be rare to loose both right and left rear brake lights. They are on different wires to the rear, though it is possible.

We would cross wire or check coming out of the truck and use the parking lights on the trailer and the truck both. Try parking to brake, and brake to parking. ‘

You will have to use a voltmeter to determine whether it is in the vehicle harness, or the trailer.
