How far would the gear shaft be below the pad right out of the factory on a 09 Cougar with a 250 Pro XS/

There is only one true way to measure engine height, and that is the method on the drawing you received. The other measurement is not always accurate depending on who measures it and variables all are not aware of.

Don’t worry about where you are if you are running well.

Everything is relative to performance and steering wheel torque. Feel is all that tells you if you are right.

The rest is only to say or know where you are and know the measurement.
