Bow Eye area Cracking

There are large chunks of Gelcoat cracked and fallen out around bow-eye. I cant tell if the fiberglass is cracked or not. The boat is just under 2 years old. I obviously need to get it in to the dealer to get it repaired, is this something that should be covered under warranty? I have never had this happen before on any boat I have owned. 2004 Cougar FTD.

Check the bow roller, if it is worn, you might be hitting the bolt directly if the roller is worn or cracked.

Roller is like new, but thanks for the suggestion.

You obviously have the urethane roller on the bow. The 2006 models are now black rubber again for this reason.

There is little cushion in the urethane rollers, and if you impact them hard, they cause the bow eye to force the gelcoat from the Vinyl Ester resin behind it.

For those times you run it up a little too fast, you need a little more cushion to prevent this.

You can easily have it repaired.

Ill get it in and have it repaired and switch out that roller. Thanks for the quick reply, I know you all were busy this weekend. My partner pulled out at the last minute and I could not make the Invitational…cant wait for next year.
