Firestone trailer tire replacement.

I am looking into replacing the Firestone firehawk tires on my 2001 BC tandem trailer. Is there any reason a similar passenger tire with the same rating will not perform equall as well as the firestone firehawks. It is more convenient for me to purchase the same size tire in the BF Goodrich radial t/a brand. If anyone knows of some other consideration to be taken in the replacement of the Firehawks it would appreciate some feedback. Thank you very much. Ricky.T

havent had a single problem since. (had a blowout with a firestone tire with less than 1000 miles on it…they were little help in replacing, so i dumped em totally)

got a lot of peace of mind now

They no longer make Firehawks, today Firestone is the Indy 500 series.

We have had excellent success with Firestone and we do offer the standard Marathons also.

You can opt for most brands name tires and do fine. We have seen better results on some lesser brands than top end names also.

Just find a local dealer you trust and you should be fine in most brands.

So the firstone firehawks are regular tires and not trailer tires, is that why they are rated for 35 pounds and not 50??

They are passenger car tires, which were purchased with input from Firestone. Trailer rated tires are actually way less expensive than the tires on your car, for our purchases.

The vehicle tires are a premium tire to the trailer tires. They do cost more and from our experiences they last better. That is also the input we have received from Firestone, and others.

Also don’t forget that we use a 15″ tire and wheels while others are 14″ versions.

I have the firestone Indys on my 2004 cougar ftd. They say on the sidewall max 44 psi cold presure.
