anyone running 27 tempest plus on 250XS?

2005 Puma w/250XS. When I fill the wells witha full load and partner (300lbs worth) it takes forever to get out of the hole. Its not much better with a 26 trophy plus. Would a Tempest be better?

have you adjusted the PVS plugs on the hub of the prop? these make a tremendous amount of difference on Mercury props in regards to hole shot!

I am currently running a pvs setup given to me by Mike Whitten (I think) who is also running the 27 trophy on a Puma/250. By myself it helped knock about 3-4 seconds off the hole shot. But when I add a partner and wells full it just dont want to climb out. If youve got a good pvs setup Id love to try it. Thanks.

There is no exact science to the PVS plugs and there is no exact science to any setup. All can be different due to loads, differences in props, differences in engines, altitudes, and weather conditions. Take out another plug and see what happens. If you have a cavitation ring, take it off. There are many different ways to get where you want to be. If youre in the right rpm range at top end speed, you can get the right hole shot by adjusting the PVS plugs and/or cavitation ring.
