has anyone tried a 26 tempest? i have 2 25 trophys and want to trade one for a 26 tempest. tony

How does the Trophy Plus 25 do on your Puma? What motor? 225 or 225XS? Im running a Trophy Plus 26, on a Opti 225, and finally got a good hole shot, by plugging all holes completely, and no ring. Around 3 second holeshot. Max rpms so far was 5600 with 2 people and 30 gallons of gas (69.8 gps). Might have been able to get another 100 rpms and another 1-2 mph or so out of her if I had more lake (small area)!

i lowered my motor a little took off the ring runs (gps 72 two people 30 gal of gas 25 trophy 225xs 6000rpms going to get a 26 tempest for a spare when it comes in i will let you no how tha works so far i am a new happy cat owner tony

Just bought a 25 Trophy to try out, i think it will bring the rpms right where theyre supposed to be. Also will be a better prop for Erie (mid speed power) Jeff aka “Pumaholic”

This week I have been able to try out a 27 ” Tempest 3-blade, stock out of the box, with the large hole PVS plugs installed. The rig is a Puma DC with Optimax 225 Pro XS. The jackplate is up 1/4″.I removed my 26″ Trophy and installed the 27″ Tempest–no jackplate adjustments or anything else. Full tanks and all of my tackle, seats, etc, it ran 73.1 GPS at 5600 rpms. This was in fairly heavy waves, 80 degree air temp and 83 degree water temp. My previous best was 72.6 GPS with the 26″ Trophy.I plan to raise the jackplate another 1/4″ and try again. The holeshot and acceleration are excellent. Will post again after results are in.Gary Hollander

Thanks gary, keep us in touch. I just ran a new 25 Trophy Plus that has been blueprinted. me alone, with around 30 gallons in midtank, 10 in back. I had no problem getting to 5700 rpms with it, and was running around 68 mph, with more gas peddle and trim left. i did like the bow lift more on this 25 than my Trophy Plus 26. i really did not expect that many rpms from this 25. Maybe it being blueprinted has something to do with it. My rig is an 05 Puma and regular Opti 225. Going to do more experimenting on my 26. jeff

I raised the jackplate an additional 1/4″, and it blew out badly on take-off. I dropped it 1/8″, which eliminated the blow-out, and went to 73.3 mph GPS. The lift is incredible.I am really impressed by the 27″ Tempest on my fully loaded Puma DC/225 Pro XS. I also acquired a 27″ Trophy, which I plan to test this week as well.Lessons learned to date: the Optimax Pro XS 225 will take as much prop as you can give it. Gary Hollander

Yes, rpms increased; however, the motor was blowing out on take-off too much. I dropped it back 1/8″, and that solved the issue. The holeshot and acceleration are really great.Fully loaded with all my stuff and full tanks, I got 73.3 mph GPS. The lift is outstanding! I still plan to try the 27″ Trophy this week. Will be practicing for BASS Weekend Series on LOZ next weekend…Gary Hollander
