I took a veteran fishing yesterday. His name is Will and he was a Command Sargent Major in the Special Forces Group. He is a vet of the middle east wars. He is also a chiseled 300 lbs. and can cast a mile. We were fishing before a cold front and having a ball. I drive the boat the boat below 60 for the most part and Will wanted to see what the top speed was on my BassCat Puma. Lake of the Ozarks was dead calm with a water temp of 60 degrees and air temp of 71 degrees. I did a hole shot, planed out and opened up the 225 Opti. We topped out at 74 mph. Full load, 560 lbs. of men and my favorite group, Alabama, blasting from the stereo. YEE-HAH!!That is a really good top speed for a 225 with a load like that. My SmartCraft gauges say I now have 97.6 hours on my 2006 boat. 11 years old and barely past break-in for the Optimax.
