Broke license plate holder

We discover over the weekend that our license plate holder had broke. Now I have to go get a new tag for the boat trailer.

It looks like I have to remove the plate light to install a new one. Is this a sealed light like the brake lights? Does anyone have a plate holder they would recommend? I look on Bass Cat’s store and did not see one on there.

There is a plastic license plate holder in the store. They are usually very durable and we have limited issues with loss. The light is a sealed assembly.

After loosing 2 license plates I made a holder out of king starboard a couple of years ago and eliminated that problem

Never have really understood why these are made of plastic. To many wat ifs in the location for potential loss or breakage. A light gauge aluminium or stainless bracket cut with a plasma would be the way to go. Someone in the business with a cnc could produce 100’s of these in a jiffy at minimal cost.

I actually bought one that was made of diamond plate aluminum and broke also. Pulling boat in and out of water worked metal and it finally broke. starboard gives and seems to hold up.

I found some ones that are hinged. I wanted to replace the light for the plate while I had it off. So I ordered the one from Bass Cat. If it breaks I will figure out something else.

I really do not know how old the hanger was that was on there. We bought the boat 2 years ago and it was on there.
