Sabre FTD 175 Prop?

Picking up a Sabre with a 2-stroke ProXS 175. What prop recommendations for the FTD with a 175 Pro XS? WIll be running mainly around 200'-600' above sea level, unless I make a special trip. My load is less than the typical person. 10-12 trays, 10 rods maybe, and the typical life jackets, rain suit, rope, tools, etc. after that. Most of the weight will be placed in the rear storage compartments on the boat. The lake I typically fish is 40,000 acres. Top speed and take off would be my main concerns. I am coming from a 2014 Sabre (non-FTD)with a 150 ProXS, I'm aware the FTD weighs a bit more.

We would start with the 24 Fury and it could be on the rev limiter. That will keep hole shot good and carry a significant load.

Well I have tried to post a reply to your question several times now I will try again. I have a Sabre FTD with a 175 pro sx. I am running a 24 Fury prop. I have not had any work done on the prop the set back is flush with the motor. My boat is loaded about like yours. I have all the heavy stuff in the back compartments. Hole shot is outstanding. Top end is faster than I can drive it. About 65 to 67 it will walk on me. I have not had enough seat time to correct this problem. It still has some left in it and I will get there with time. At driving speed of 55 or so it is really fun to drive and that is where I like to run. Unless you see one of the big boats than it is game on. John

24 or 25 Fury 3 or 4 blade should narrow it down to 4 props. I had a 25 3 blade on my 175/sabre & just sold it & now running a 24 4 blade. I hit 70.96 running extremely light & cold weather-tough for me to drive & had an odd lean at slow 30-35 speed (local lake has a speed limit). have yet to run the 24 4 blade at speed but hole shot is even more incredible & odd lean is gone. The acceleration is unbelievable. Hope this helps, John

Don’t rule out a Bravo 1 XS in a 25″ pitch. Overall great prop for hole shot, handling, rough water. You might lose a couple of mph on the top end, but acceleration at mid range is unbelievable

I agree with Midnight Rider, but on the 175 Pro XS 2 stroke I run a 26 Bravo 1xs. 69.0 with 3/4 fuel & just me in it @ 5830 rpms last week (Cool Front), and it’s very easy to drive. My tackle is in the front, but it’s not much. I tried a 25 Bravo 1xs . It was all over 6000 rpms, and I could only get 65.1 mph. 26 is a beast on my boat, and the rough water ride is outstanding. For Top End though, like BCB and the others said…it’s the 24 Fury 3 or 25. I ran a 24 Fury 3, and it hit 70.0 last Spring @ 5930 rpms if I recall correctly…about 1/2 fuel and empty livewells. I had to “drive it”, but oh my did it haul the mail. Sabreski’s 24 Fury 4 sounds promising. I’ve been waiting for someone to try that prop on the Sabre with 175 Pro XS.

Just got home with her but the dealer didn’t have a 24 Fury 3-blade so I’m running with a 25 Fury 3-blade. He had a 24 Fury 4-blade but I wasn’t too sure about that one, to be honest. I knew it hadn’t been around for as long and I hadn’t seen anyone talking about it or I had missed it.

Break in starts now…and with bad weather coming in, it may be a few days…but the boat made the journey fine. The dual axle trailer made all the difference in the world when pulling it (you were right Red), and thankfully no issues at all on the way home…nearly a 425-mile journey. Thanks for the input, I’ll post speeds when she’s broken in and a comparison for the 175 vs a 150 on the same hull if anyone is interested or curious.

Glad all went well on your travels. Yes i knew the dual axle would make a huge difference in dragging her home. Just like the 175 on that hull. Shes gna be a rocket and most likely a handfull! As far as props who knos the fury has made a good name for itself. Imo the 24 will be the best for your application. Though the rev limiter could be a issue in the cooler months(but i honestly dont think so)To me the only advantage with the 4 blade would be ease of handling and exceptional midrange lift. I do kno ive read several instances where the 4 blade fury has slung ears( which i figureis due to a high ptp). As you being a previous cat owner im sure the learning curve will come with ease. I had a Sabre FTD with a 175 Merc with a 25 Trophy plus.
It ran 69.4 average top speed.
I could run 65-67 mph hands off.
No chine.
Was a rocket and handled like it was on rails! Great machine!
