2001 Pantera III Rear Deck Seat Post?

Rear deck seat post fittings very loose. Removed the white insert (actually broke flange and forced the plastic insert down about 6" as would not come out even after sawing thru at 3 places) and have replacement but the post hole itself has roughly 1/16" around the pipe coming up from base of bilge thru the back deck that allows a lot of play in the rear seat. Grabbing pole from under deck has very noticeable movement in it. Because that post comes up from bottom of bilge thru the rear deck no way to fit any kind of flange clamp around the post to maybe epoxy + screw into underside of deck which would hold that long pipe solid. Then I could put the new white insert in, take care of problem. But not sure how to stop that post movement where it comes thru the underside of rear deck? Not sure if any kind of "epoxy" could be dribbled into that 1/16" opening that would do any good, as soon as cured and the new white insert slammed in would likely break it loose? Anyone have any ideas?

Mine had the play around it too, so a few years ago I wrapped painters tape around the tube just under the deck to seal it off and poured fiberglass resin in the gap from above. I removed the tape after the resin set up and it does not have any play now. The deck is about a inch thick and it has taken a lot of abuse over the years without failure, including changing the bushing.

I forgot to say it took a while to slowly work the resin in the gap with a toothpick, and work out the air bubbles. If I remember right it took about 3 small batches of the resin to work it in the gap without it setting up on me.

Sounds like could be a solution! Is that like a Bondo Fiberglass Resin repair kit? Thank you

It was some resin and hardener that I had on hand at the time leftover from a fiberglass Pirogue project. But I am sure any resin and hardener would work.
