Mine had the play around it too, so a few years ago I wrapped painters tape around the tube just under the deck to seal it off and poured fiberglass resin in the gap from above. I removed the tape after the resin set up and it does not have any play now. The deck is about a inch thick and it has taken a lot of abuse over the years without failure, including changing the bushing.
I forgot to say it took a while to slowly work the resin in the gap with a toothpick, and work out the air bubbles. If I remember right it took about 3 small batches of the resin to work it in the gap without it setting up on me.
