Year of All Fiberglass Transom?

Hey BCB Family,

I haven’t been on these boards in a loooong time but I have a question for you. I have a 1997 BassCat Pantera Classic that i am currently selling (to upgrade to a 2019 BassCat Classic) i have been asked several times if it is a wood transom.  I am not certain as to what year BCB went to a fully Glass encapsulated transom can someone shed some light on this for me?  I dont want to be misspoken.

That is the laminated 1/2 transom with 3 sheets of 1/2″ separated by fiberglass layers. It is not a one piece plywood transom as some used. Each sheet has fiberglass between it as well as over the top, though it is not fiberglass.

There are no records which were kept on the transition to fiberglass.

Thank you BCB when I told one of the potential buyers I wasn’t sure which year was the cutoff but I knew I was on the bubble I felt like I was feeding them a line.

I feel a lot more comfortable explaining the encapsulated transom now.  I appreciate your continued support even for us Legacy owners 😉

I have a 2000 Pantera Classic that I’m getting questions about if it was built with any wood. What was the construction of the 2000 Pantera Classics?

They do not have date records though the inset hand rail models have fiberglass stringers and early models have a variety of 3 different transoms. This boat is one that could be a variety and there is no way to tell in records or writing.

I don’t know if this will help or not.  Please understand that this is all off of 20 year memory and I am in know way saying that this is gospel.  I had a 2001 Pantera Classic that was built in late 2000.  It was my understanding at the time that those 2001 models built in 2000 were some of the 1st with the all fiberglass transom and the Pantera models specifically were some of the first.   There was a decal on the back of the top cap near the transom/outer cap that stated “all fiberglass construction”  if I am remembering correctly.  That decal would possibly be on the back of those earlier models with all fiberglass construction.  I’ll try to find a picture and post it.

Only boats that were all fiberglass received the All Fiberglass logo, though some were all fiberglass without the logo.
