Should I get the Classic

Coming out of a PT20 that imploded.

Looking also at a Vexus 2080.

I like what I see but I hear people talking dookie on the interwebs. Need reassurance after my last boat.

narrow so will rock when waves are coming at it from the side?

Live wells leave a lot to be desired.  Will they keep my fish alive in all conditions?

Balance sensitive from port to starboard and it’s very noticeable.

Poor rough water ride.? Tell me it aint so. I fish Lake Washington which has huge rogue wakes, averages 2-3ers from boat traffic in the summer and can get giant waves often. Also the Columbia river which is a mean little thing and will whip up 6’ers like it’s nothin. My Pt20 bit the dust in 3-4’ers.

I want to know I can run confidently in nasty stuff without babying the boat because the boat might break.

The layout I like. However the weight sensitivity thing got me thinking. Seems like best option for rod storage is center. How many can you cram in there and still manage to get them out. I often carry 20-25 combos rigged and ready to go.

The port locker looks shallow. How many rods can I stuff in there?

I carry a lot of tackle. I’m a be prepared for any situation kinda guy. Anyone got pics of their boat loaded to the brim?

What do I need to know about this boat?

Quirks?

overall happy with your purchase?

I’ve always wanted a Basscat and now it looks like it may happen unless I get a Vexus 2080.

Thinking I’ll go with the 200 G2 this time around. What prop? Heard 4 blade better on the classic.

Heard the classic is a turd at slow speeds. How so? Or just lies?

I’m coming out of a big POS aluminum pig so keep that in mind. It and finish is not a concern to me as I know basscat is on par in the category.

Have you been satisfied with the 30 gallon fuel tank? In my Pt 20 I’d be nearing the E symbol running from one end of lake Washington and back with a few stops in between.

Zeth, I don’t know you but just reading what your concerns are, I think you are having second thoughts about the Classic.
It looks like you have a friend that owns one and you probably have ridden in one already?
I think you should consider going with the “Caracal”.  I just have a feeling that this model might address most or all of your concerns.

I know there are other factors such as $$, storage, tow vehicle etc, but just thought I might throw this idea in there for conversation purposes to give you something else to consider.  You wouldn’t want to make such a large purchase and be dissatisfied with the results.

Love the caracal. Don’t want to spring the $ for the caracal. With wife in grad school and Seattle area mortgage well ya know….Just want to get peoples thoughts and opinions about this boat before I pull the trigger even if they are biased.

I totally understand where you are coming from.  Good luck with your decision. I hope others will come in and comment  for you. One thing for sure, you can’t go wrong buying a Basscat, but I’m biased! LOL

If you do not wish to spring for a new Caracal and are debating on a classic I suggest start looking at the market regarding used cats.  You most definitely can find one that has been used within your budget.  Might even find a 20′ boat that will appeal to you.
