I’m purchasing a 2022 Cougar FTD next week and this will be my first cat. Always have wanted one and really excited. I know nothing about their setup and we do not have a bunch around to compare. The boat has a Mercury 250 4 S with a hydraulic plate and poles. Not sure about the prop size yet or the jackplate. What prop are you guys currently running for overall performance? I’ve read where cat is funny about what size jackplate you can run on their boats. I normally don’t see a cat with a big plate. Is that because they don’t require one? Where would be a good starting points in terms of height on the plate? I’m coming out of a Phoenix 721 that had a 12″ hydraulic plate and you could just about run the plate all the way up. Do the cats like to run high? Thanks for any help that is given.
