Opinions on Trick Step and Drotto Self Latching System on 2024 BasCat Puma STS

I am ordering a 2024 BassCat Puma STS.  I am interested in opinions on the Trick Step for the BassCat Puma.  I have studied the bow of the boat and with two Lowrance 12 inch Pro graphs and Active Target, it looks like it might be a challenge to use the BassCat front entry steps and poles.  I am a 66 year old man and not as agile as I once was, and I was thinking the Trick Steps might be easier.

On the topic of ease, have any of you guys used the Drotto bow self latching system on your BassCat boats.  I was thinking of ordering one for the new boat, but I wanted to get your opinions.

Looks like the Trick Steps worked well on this Cat. Not a Puma STS, but apparently the people at Trick Step are very helpful.

Drotto works well.  That said, it can beat up the front of your boat around the eyebolt.  They make a metal plate you can glue on that takes the rubbing from the drotto.    Friend has one on a deep vee, loading is a no brainer.

I put the Trick Step on my 2020 Caracal three years ago and love them as do some friends who bought them after trying mine.  Call or email the owner, he’s great to speak with and he can let you know if he’s built them for the Puma STS.  If he has,  he’ll have all the into he’ll need to build them.  Friend and I installed mine in like a half hour.  I’m 66 too and while I liked the dancing pole on my previous Cat, I was in my 50’s then.  I’m 66 almost 67 and the Trick Step is way easier to use even without all the electronics most install these days.

Thanks guys.  I am going to order a set of Trick Steps.  I have reviewed every video and all pictures I can find of the BassCat Puma STS, and it looks to me like it will make it much easier for me to access entry from the bow and exit from the bow as well.  In addition, with the Trick Steps, I do not think I will really need to order the Drotto automatic bow latching system since I will be able to easily walk down the Trick Steps to latch down the bow on the boat.  I simply can not wait to be back in a BassCat.  I am extremely excited.

I’m 72 and fish alone almost all of the time.  Although the BCB pole and step are helpful, it is not so easy to step over everything at the bow and launch. I think that having the steps and pole further back and to the side, as in the Trick Step, would be easier.

I am almost 74 and the Trick Step works great on my Cougar FTD.  The Trick Step folks will ask you some questions regarding the angle of the wench post for a good fit.  It’s not hard to install. Us old guys get to a point that we need the help.  Because like the young guys, we have all the crap on the bow of the boat.

BOAT EFX Steps – I looked at Trick Step and went with the BOAT EFX steps for my Puma. I like the handle design much better and ordered the handle extension which allows you to adjust the angle which was a big help. Easy Install and no problems getting in or out as the third step is close to deck level.
