Fuel Tank Issue

After about a half day of fishing, I was running down guntersville and engine started running rough then stared losing power. Seemed like a fuel flow problem I switched to right tank and everything ran just fine. Same Gas in both tanks, so shouldn’t be a bad gas problem. When I look on the basscat store for parts, I only see a sending unit, you guys think it’s a fuel pump problem? It’s a 2020 model with less than 100 hrs.Thanks.

There is no fuel pump on the tank like in a newer vehicle. This is a hybrid setup with eVap on the boat, and fuel pump (VST) on the engine. It sound like something is inside the fuel tank itself and floating  around until it gets sucked against the pickup tube. Removing the fuel sending unit (round 5/16” bolt/screws) will give you a small port to see inside the tank.

Back in the first several years of eVap boats (2013 est) the, eVap liners were either opaque or black and you won’t be able to easily see much. On newer boats the eVap liners are clear and allow light through the tanks walls.

in any case, we think that’s your issue. Often tanks it’s a bottle cap foil piece or a plastic wrapping on a bottle head. And we’ve seen the 5 to 10 years old grandchild playing in the boat, in the garage, trick more times than we can ever recall. Pop the cap and drop in everything from bubble gum to candy wrappers

Since you switched tanks and the motor ran normal, you eliminated problems with the motor. I’m not sure if BCB uses an anti-siphon valve but those sometimes become defective. Also possible obstruction that made its way to the pickup in that tank. Have you had any recent work done where they messed with the fuel lines? Sometimes ethanol plays a factor in fuel lines breaking down and the liner collapsing but your boat is new enough with ethanol safe lines, I wouldn’t think that would be a factor.

So there is only one pump that pumps fuel from both tanks depending on the selector on the back? I’ve had no kids around my boat so shouldn’t be a bubble gum wrapper or etc…will pull it to see if  I can see inside. Thank you much.

The is only that one pump.

Yes, you do have an anti-siphon at the top of the pickup tube. NFPA requires it for home garage storage today.
