Hole Shot

I have a Basscat Cougar with 300 Pro XS with a 25P Fury fixed by Ronnie Gilbert my issue is when loaded fuel power polls and live wells full hole shot is terrible when I hit the throttle the nose flies straight up in the air any thoughts?

Is your motor trimmed all the way down? If you have Hyd Jackplate, bury it as well.   Sometimes when Im real heavy I have to raise my jackplate a bit, but my symptom is not getting the nose up fast enough.

Actually… try raising the plate to about 6 for hole shot, as soon as you hit the throttle start pulling the plate down. Make sure you have all the PVS plugs out of the barrel and usually Ronny’s props will work with that on a 25” Fury. We have seen some with Poles, AGM batts, big partners, full fuel and lots of tackle run better with a 24” Fury.

usually when someone has Gilbert work one, it was damaged and needed cleaning up. If it was sand-barred, then the blades could be all tweaked out of shape. We don’t like rebuilt propellers as they are subject to whatever damage happened before they got rebuilt. The rebuilder often can’t bring them back enough.
