Don’t order a garmin force trolling motor with some bass cat boats

Bass cat installed a force troller on my pantera classic and as a result can only open my led rod box 65 % when troller is in cradle. Bass cat said they believe they mount that as far forward  as possible and still use the front bolt holes.  They also said they usually have no trouble with most 45 ” motors. I have the shortest force, a 50 “.  Reconsider buying the force unless you can verify and bass cat can guarantee that your boxes are free to open. Has anyone else had this issue and is there a work around to shortening the 4 1/2” collar under the shaft cap?

Not really a big deal IMO. My Caracal has a 52″ MinnKota that does the same. Usually not in the locker unless tm is down. Otherwise unlatch it and lift out of the way.

Maybe your situation is different?

My force won’t allow my rod locker to open if it’s stowed with the prop inboard. If I stow it with the prop outboard the lid to the rod locker just squeaks by. The head configuration is different on side to other. You may just try it and see.

Thanks for weighing in,  I like to get  my rods out of the box , which is on the left, before I leave the dock, so it is a inconvenience for me. tight lines !

Hello, what year is your pantera classic? I  hate switching the orientation of the prop because I dock my boat all the time , and  am afraid of the potential mishaps when docking. I also have the custom cover which I am not sure will like having the prop sticking out beyond the gunwhale.

Does the same on my puma, i just lift it up a few inchs and the locker lid clears, doesnt bother me any, i love the garmin force and there customer service is absolute bliss, ive spoken to techs on the weekend when i had a motor failure, i had a new unit at my door 4 days later.

Hi, thanks for the tip.  But I have to ask your secret to speak to a garmin tech on the weekend. The times I have called on a Saturday , I receive a message saying they are closed until Monday.
