Gel Coat, Scratch Repair and Polishing

As the title says I am going to be taking the hard water season here and I am going to be working on fixing all the oppses and oh dam scratches nicks and other issues with the boat.

So I have a few questions that I am hoping to get some assistance with.

1. What brand of Gel Coat repair kit should I use?

2. After all the scratches dings and Oh dam issues are repaired, is there a way to rebuild the layer of Gel Coat?

3. Once the gel coat is back to full thickness, what coating is best to use?

I’m asking because I understand that BassCat uses certain products and because not all fiberglass and gel coats used are the same I would like to know what products work best with the materials the BassCat use.

This is for a 2010 PIV

Nice thing is the hull is black bottom with white sides so color matching should not be an issue.

The one time that I had to have some repair of the gel and flake done on one of my Cats, I had the factory send me up the necessary components.  I just gave the gel and flake to the repair shop and had them do the work.  Getting it from the factory will give a perfect colour match if that is important to you. If your repair is straight gel, I don’t believe that there is any clear over top of it.  I think the clear is only over flake.
