catpuma 202, if you are looking at the valve in the bilge, then you should be able determine the problem yourself. You indicated that you didn’t see anything move when your friend operated the empty/auto valve back and forth. This part that moves should have the cable attached to it. Can you see and identify the cable and is it attached to a small “lever” on the valve? If the cable is not connected, then you should be able to move the “lever” back and forth yourself to test the valve. If the cable is attached to the lever, then maybe it has come detached from the empty/auto switch. You can remove the empty/auto switch and observe the cable attached to the rear of it. You need to perform all of this “visual observation” to determine where the problem actually exists. Unfortunately, mechanical things can break, especially if they are not used consistently.
