05 Puma rear tanks not picking up

Had a problem the other day was hoping maybe someone else has run into also. 2005 puma with the belly tank and 2 10 gallon kickers, previous owner said he never used the kicker tanks but Im wanting to now, I filled only the left rear the other day and ran the big tank almost empty and when I switched tanks I couldnt get the bulb to prime up hard and when I tried running it would only run about 30 sec then starve for gas. All the lines look in great shape, I wondered if you must fill both tanks so the line doesnt draw air in from the empty tank or if I may have a bad selector switch.

Both anka must have similar fuel in them and we prefer to use them mostly for improved performance. Keeping the center “belly” tank almost empty as a light reserve when your not in need of that capacity.

Thats what I was wanting to see how much performance I can pick up, still adjusting my jackplate but Sunday I had picked up 3 mph on top end I believe just from the weight shift. It also seemed to handle better at wot I think I will pick up another 4 to 5 mph when I get my jackplate right .

Pretty sure the fuel will equalize between tanks. It doesnt do it immediately (reason for two fill caps), but it seems like mine equalizes. I would take the hose off the tank to the selector and see if it is coming apart inside. Also, might not be a bad idea to check the hose from the selector to the outboard. The older ones equalized, the newer ones have anti-siphon valves and will not.
