07 puma with etec 250 ho seems slow.

Hey guys just got into a 06 puma 250 etec ho with a 27 fury. I'm moderately loaded with tackle full fuel empty wells and 2 guys at 200 lb each and seeing 70 mph at 5900 to 6000 rpm. My understanding is that this hull should be a mid to high 70s ride. Is my manual jackplate to high causing slip? Hole shot is good as well.

I bought a used 14 Cougar with a 225ho that came with a 26 fury prop that would only run 68-70, after talking to a prop guy he told me the fury was not a good choice with an Evinrude. Lucked up on a 26 Raker at a good price and boat ran 72-75 depending on conditions and still came out of the hole pretty good. Later on traded the fury for a 27 tempest plus, it performed very close to the raker. Hope this helps.
